Astrology for Personal Development

This is the outline for the ComCon @ the Bridge Community gathering on April 30, 2020. The links discussed are in the body and any handouts are attached at the bottom.

The book recommended is The Only Astrology Book You Will Ever Need by Joanna Martine Woolfolk.

What is astrology?

A tool for personal development and understanding

Shows the position of the planets and the signs when you were born

Each planet, each sign, and each segment of the sky tell a story about the person you are and the potentials you hold, both positive and negative

Natal chart

12 houses provide information on the private and public spheres of a person

12 signs provide information on personality traits that are mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual

10 planets and 3+ celestial bodies provide information on how universal principles are expressed

The 12 houses: 1-6 are personal; 7-12 are transpersonal

The planets: Sun through Mars are personal planets; Jupiter through Pluto are transpersonal planets; Chiron, Lilith, and Ceres are transformative celestial bodies

The signs:

modalities: Cardinal – Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn; Fixed – Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius; Mutable – Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces

elements: Fire – Aries, Leo, Sagittarius; Earth – Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn; Air – Gemini, Libra, Aquarius; Water – Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

Aspects:

Conjunction – 8 degrees – working closely and powerfully together

Opposition – 180 degrees – working against each other

Trine – 120 degrees – 4 signs apart which means they are in the same element but different modalities that are adjacent to each other (e.g. fixed to mutable, cardinal to fixed) – this is a congruent aspect as it moves in flow with the energy

Square – 90 degrees – 3 signs apart which means they are in the same modality but different elements – this is a difficult aspect as different elements struggle in the same modality

Basic Astrology Interpretation:

The Ascendant: My relationship to the world is expressed through…

The Ascendant is always the cusp of the 1st house of Self-Expression

The sign shows the element and modality through which your relationship to the world is expressed

Example: Ascendant in Leo in the First House

Relation (ascendant) is expressed through Will (Leo) In Self Expression (First House)

Interpretation – This person appears very strong-willed and charismatic to the rest of the world.

The Sun: My purpose is expressed through

The sun may appear in any house and shows the area of life in which the sun expresses this purpose.

The sign shows the element and modality through which your purpose is expressed

Example: Sun in Sagittarius in the Sixth House

Purpose (sun) expressed through Seeing (Sagittarius) In Dharma/Service (Sixth House)

Interpretation – This person’s purpose is best seen through Service. Everything they do is geared toward serving others and it is seeing the needs that are present and addressing them hopefully through the other parts of the chart. This person is oriented toward serving others and can see the needs that are present.

The Moon: My Akashic Record is expressed through

The Akashic Record is the sum total of your experiences and your feelings are built on that record

The Moon may appear in any house and shows the area of life in which the moon expresses the lessons of the Akashic Record.

Example: Moon in Scorpio in the Eleventh House

The Akashic Record (moon) is expressed through Desire (Scorpio) In Collectives (Eleventh House)

Interpretation – This person works through the lessons of the Akashic Records in groups and through desires – it could be that subconscious desires surface in group settings and the lessons are learned in that manner

Predictive Astrology – 5-D Astrology explained

Source: https://www.hareinthemoonastrology.co.uk/weekly-forecasts

Predictive astrology, when cast by someone knowledgeable in the Art, can reveal trends in personal and transpersonal challenges and growth.

Example: Today Mercury is conjunct Uranus. Articulation/Communication (Mercury) and Innovation/Chaos (Uranus) are within 8 degrees of each other: “something new – something eccentric – needs to break through into conscious awareness.”
